A Legacy in Books

Preserving History at the Yung Balug Keeping Place
Last year, Dianna Collier celebrated her 100th birthday and has since decided to slow down a little.
Throughout her remarkable life, she has been a lecturer and librarian at various universities, including in New Guinea. Beyond her academic career, Dianna has been a dedicated supporter of the Yung Balug Keeping Place Museum, frequently bringing groups—mainly from Bendigo—to visit and learn.
Recently, Dianna reached out with a generous offer: she wishes to donate her extensive collection of books, gathered over a lifetime. Many of these books, which document Aboriginal life from early settlement, are rare, historically significant, and invaluable.
Her collection will be housed in the new Keeping Place building once it is completed, serving as an incredible resource for students and researchers alike.
Adding to this legacy, Rob Croll—six-time Australian Champion Boomerang Thrower—has also donated a substantial collection of books and literature to complement Dianna’s.
Together, these contributions will help preserve and share the rich history and culture of Aboriginal people for generations to come.
